How to Use the WPM Progress Tracker

Record scores from tests taken under the same conditions: the same duration, difficulty, language, and scoring method. A 15-second sprint and a 5-minute paragraph test measure different abilities, so mixing them makes the trend misleading. The 1-minute standard test is the simplest repeatable daily benchmark.

Which Numbers Matter?

  • WPM: Your net words per minute after error penalties.
  • Accuracy: The percentage of entered characters that were correct.
  • Duration: Longer tests produce more stable scores and expose stamina.
  • Trend: Compare rolling averages, not one unusually good personal best.

How Often Should You Measure?

One benchmark session two or three times per week is enough. Take three attempts after a short warm-up and log the median result. Daily practice can continue between measurements, but constant testing encourages score chasing instead of improving weak keys and accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to track WPM progress?

Use the same test format each time, take three attempts after warming up, and log the median. Compare weekly averages rather than one personal-best outlier.

Where is my tracker data stored?
