Emojis are part of the Unicode standard. Each emoji has a unique code point (or sequence of code points) that maps to a visual glyph rendered by the operating system or font. The same emoji may look different across platforms — Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Samsung all render the same Unicode emoji with different artwork.
The emoji list is embedded in the page. No data is sent to a server.
Every major OS has a built-in shortcut: Windows key plus period on Windows, Cmd-Ctrl-Space on macOS, and the emoji key on most mobile keyboards. If you can never remember the shortcut, this picker does the same job in the browser — search the name, click, and the emoji is copied.
Unicode defines each emoji's meaning, but every platform draws its own artwork. Apple, Google, Samsung, and Microsoft each ship different image sets, so the same code point can look noticeably different — and very old devices may show a newer emoji as a blank box until they receive a font update.
