Unicode Text Styles

𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 and 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤

The Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400–U+1D7FF) contains bold, italic, bold italic, and script variants of Latin letters and digits. These render as styled text in any application that supports Unicode — even ones that don't support rich text formatting like HTML or markdown.

𝚂𝚖𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝙲𝚊𝚙𝚜 and ᴹᵒⁿᵒˢᵖᵃᶜᵉ

Unicode includes a range of special letterforms used in phonetic transcription and mathematical notation. These map standard letters to visually distinct alternatives in the same character set.

S̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ and U͟n̶d̶e̶r̶l̶i̶n̶e̶

Achieved using Unicode combining characters that render strikethrough or underline decoration on top of normal letters. Works in most modern applications.

Where Can You Use Unicode Styled Text?

  • Social media — Twitter, Instagram bios, LinkedIn posts, Reddit comments
  • Messaging — WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack
  • Email subject lines — many email clients render Unicode correctly
  • Code comments — for section headers and emphasis in plain-text files

Limitations

Unicode styled text is not true formatting — it's made of different characters that look like styled letters. Search engines, screen readers, and some applications will see the raw Unicode characters, not formatted text. Use sparingly and avoid for content that needs to be searchable or accessible.

Privacy

All conversion runs locally in your browser. No text is sent to a server.
