How to Get the Most from This Test

Think of it as a long email. 500 characters is roughly one paragraph of professional writing. If your WPM here feels comfortable, that's your realistic document-editing speed.
Don't rush the opening. With 100 words ahead of you, there's no benefit to sprinting the first 20. Find a sustainable rhythm quickly and hold it through to the end.
Use this to benchmark real-world typing speed. Unlike 15-second sprint tests, 500 characters reflects how fast you actually compose messages, reports, and documents. This number is more practically relevant than your burst WPM.
Target 98% accuracy. At 100 words, even 3–4 errors noticeably reduces net WPM. Accuracy discipline here transfers directly to cleaner typing in real work.
Repeat 3 times and take the middle score. Your best run is sometimes a fluke; your worst is sometimes a bad moment. The middle score of three attempts is your most reliable benchmark.
